Monarch Orientation is ODU's orientation program for new students and their families.

Monarch Orientation is a full day on-campus program designed to help new students, and their families and guests, become familiar with resources and services ODU provides to support student success. Throughout the day, attendees have the opportunity to engage with University faculty and staff, current students, and other new students and families, delve into their academic and involvement interests, explore campus, and register for classes.

Monarch Orientation is different from an Open House and Admitted Students Day, which is a general information session about the University for prospective students. If you are looking for information regarding prospective student events, please visit the Future Monarch Center.

Am I required to attend Monarch Orientation?

Please use the tab of the admit term indicated on your acceptance letter, then follow the table to determine whether you are required to participate in Monarch Orientation. If you are a military-affiliated student with a scheduling conflict that will affect your attendance at Monarch Orientation, such as basic training, we are happy to assist. Please contact us at 757-683-3428 or orientation@odu.edu for more information.
