| Q. |
Who can park in the Convocation Center Garage? |
| A. |
Anyone with a valid ODU parking decal can park in the
Convocation Center garage. However, when there is an event at the Convocation
Center the garage will close or become “exit only” after
a certain hour. |
| Q. |
Where do I park if there is an event at
the Convocation Center? |
| A. |
If you are not attending the event you
can park in the parking area authorized by your ODU parking decal.
For example: if you have a commuter decal you can park in a commuter
lot or an overflow lot. |
| Q. |
Why is parking lot 40 closing? |
| A. |
Parking lot 40, located on 43rd Street
between the library and the parking garage, is being replaced by a
new 650 space-parking garage. |
| Q. |
How long before the new garage is ready
for use? |
| A. |
The lot will close for good in September
and the new garage should be ready for use in Fall 2005. |
| Q. |
Will piles have to be driven into the ground
for construction of the new garage? |
| A. |
Yes. The old asphalt will be stripped,
light poles removed and piles will be driven. There will be noise due
the construction, but it will be temporary. |
| Q. |
Why is 46th Street closed between Hampton
and Monarch Way? |
| A. |
46th Street is the staging area for the
Technology Building renovation and will remain closed for about one
and a half years. |
| Q. |
Who controls the parking meters on Monarch
Way? |
| A. |
The city of Norfolk Parking Office. |
| Q. |
Who can ride the campus shuttle? |
| A. |
All student, faculty, staff, and visitors
to the University can ride the shuttle. The shuttle operates from 7:30
a.m. to midnight (last run starts at 11:30 p.m.) Monday through Thursday
and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday. |
| Q. |
I have a commuter decal and cannot find
a place to park, what should I do? |
| A. |
We suggest that you consult the parking
brochure to locate and park in one of the perimeter lots and catch
the ODU shuttle to your destination. A reminder that the highest demand
time for parking is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
| Q. |

and Computational Sciences building, put my flashers on and go in the
