Yochum Among Several With ODU Connections to Receive Statewide Appointments From McAuliffe

Gil Yochum, outgoing dean of Old Dominion University's College of Business and Public Administration, has been appointed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe to the Virginia Finance Secretariat's Joint Advisory Board of Economists. Several other people with connections to ODU were among the gubernatorial appointees announced June 6.

Yochum, an ODU faculty member for 39 years, retires in July. He was among the founders in 1996 of the university's Economic Forecasting Project, which has grown into one of the state's most influential, reliable economic forecasting bodies.

Ross Mugler, former rector of ODU Board of Visitors, was appointed to the board of the Virginia College Savings Plan. Mugler, an alumnus who received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1984 and a Master of Public Administration in 2003, is commissioner of the revenue for the city of Hampton.

Currently president of the Virginia Commissioners of the Revenue Association and the Thomas Nelson Education Foundation, Mugler has received several gubernatorial appointments since being elected as Hampton's commissioner of the revenue.

In Commerce and Trade, Andrea Kilmer, who received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from ODU in 1978, was appointed to the Board of Accountancy. Kilmer, a CPA, is vice president and chief financial officer of The ESG Companies in Virginia Beach.

In Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, Vivian Greentree, senior vice president of military and veteran affairs for First Data Corp., was appointed to the Virginia Military Advisory Council. Greentree received her Ph.D. in Public Administration/Urban Policy from ODU in 2011.
