The Old Dominion University Symphony Band is the newest instrumental ensemble in the Department of Music, presenting its first performance in the spring of 2009. Under the direction of its founder, Dr. Alexander Treviño, the Symphony Band performs a varied and exciting selection of music each spring. The group has performed new and emergent literature from such composers as Eric Whitacre, Samuel Hazo and John Mackey, as well as established classics of the wind band genre. The ensemble is open to university students from all majors.
