Graduate Writing Assistance Program
The Graduate Writing Assistance Program offers free, one-on-one assistance to ODU's graduate students with theses, dissertations, and writing projects for any course. Assistance is provided by appointment only. Students can schedule an appointment with a writing consultant in the Graduate Writing Assistance office is located in BAL 6015.
Appointments are usually scheduled for an hour, though longer sessions are possible. When students call for an appointment, the writing consultant will ask for information concerning the assignment.
Faculty members should call Dr. David Metzger at 683-3875 if they would like a writing consultant to speak to their classes or to conduct an in-class writing/editing workshop.
Note: The Graduate Writing Assistance Program is NOT a proof-reading service. Writing consultants will not proofread papers, but they will help students to learn how to proofread for mechanical and grammatical errors, to organize their work effectively, to document sources properly, and to improve general research and writing skills.
