Application Process

To apply, prospective Graduate Assistant candidates must send electronic copies of their resume, cover letter, and a list of 3 professional references to:

Amber Steele
Residence Hall Director, University Village Apartments
Email: aesteele@odu.edu

To qualify for a GA position, applicants must have applied to a master's degree program at Old Dominion University. Preference will be given to students who have applied to the Higher Education master's program with ODU's Darden College of Education. Students in other degree programs are also welcome to apply.

Interview Options

Each candidate will need to complete a face-to-face interview with the Graduate Assistant Selection Committee.

Three interview options exist:

  • A Skype interview with members of the selection team
  • Visit the ODU Campus and conduct an on-site interview with members of the selection team

Priority Consideration

Priority consideration will be given to prospective graduate students who submit applications and schedule interviews by March 9, 2012. Applications can be submitted directly to Amber Steele at aesteele@odu.edu

Students who only apply for an assistantship through the College of Education's master's program in Higher Education will always be considered for any openings that may exist within Housing & Residence Life, but they must apply by March 9, 2012 to receive priority consideration. After that, applicants will be considered on a rolling basis.
