- Jan Freeman is author of three poetry collections, Hyena, Autumn Sequence, and Simon Says, which was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award. Her poems have appeared in journals and anthologies including The Southern Review, Prairie Schooner, APR, and The Women's Review of Books. As founder, director, and publisher of Paris Press, Freeman has championed groundbreaking literature by less-known women writers. Paris Press republished Muriel Rukeyser's The Life of Poetry, out of print since 1949, and has published work by Virginia Woolf, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Ruth Stone, and other 19th, 20th, and 21st century women writers. Freeman co-edited the acclaimed collection Sisters: An Anthology. *A booksigning and reception to follow at the Virginia Beach location.
