The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Watch for our region. Due to continually deteriorating weather conditions and in anticipation of street flooding, classes, activities and events at all Old Dominion University locations will end at noon on Friday, Oct. 2 and will not resume Saturday or Sunday. Offices will close at noon on Friday.

Faculty, staff and students should use their own best judgment when considering traveling to/from campus during times of inclement weather. For example, some students may chose to travel home early in anticipation of the storm. Remember, do not drive through flood water or into running water. For students choosing to stay on campus this weekend, residence halls will remain open and staffed. Dining hours and locations, along with limited activities for those staying on campus, are available on the University website.

Supervisors are encouraged to be liberal in approving leave for Friday, provided offices have adequate coverage until noon. Faculty and staff are asked to close down all applications and power off their computers and all peripherals (printers, etc.) prior to leaving for the weekend. Essential personnel should consult with their supervisor regarding their work hours.

Hours of Operation:

• The Student Recreation Center will be open Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, all formal programs, events and activities, including the swimming pool, climbing wall and University Fitness Center are cancelled until the University reopens.
• The Learning Commons will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
• Webb University Center will remain open for normal operating hours. All other programming and events are cancelled. Additionally, the University Card Center will close at noon on Friday and reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday.
• Monarch Transit and SafeRide services will experience restricted routes and schedules throughout the weekend depending on the street conditions. Any change in status will be posted as a notification on the "Transit" tile of the ODU Mobile App.
• Several athletic events have been cancelled. Please check the Athletic Website for the latest information.
• The Open House scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 is cancelled.
• The ODU 4th Annual Triathlon scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 is cancelled.

The Monarch Transit Shuttle and Safe Ride services will experience restricted routes and scheduling this weekend from Friday, Oct. 2, through Sunday, Oct. 4, due to inclement weather and flooding.

There will be no off-campus shuttle service to Kroger/Walmart or Ghent/MacArthur during this time. On-campus services will continue to operate. The campus community should expect service interruptions during high tide periods in the early afternoons.

Safe Ride will begin as scheduled at 7 p.m., however, ALL SERVICES WILL END OPERATIONS DAILY AT MIDNIGHT.

The University will open several parking garages to Old Dominion students, faculty/staff and Norfolk residents living adjacent to the University wishing to move their vehicles to higher ground. The garages are located at:

• A - 43rd Street and Elkhorn Avenue
• B - 43rd Street and Bluestone Avenue
• E - 49th Street and Bluestone Avenue

Vehicles without an ODU parking pass may park on the second floor or higher through the weekend; however all vehicles without a valid University parking pass should be removed by 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.

Parking is not recommended in the following flood-prone areas:

• Lot 1 (off Hampton Blvd. beside WHRO)
• Lot 11 (off 49th Street beside Rogers Hall East)
• Lot 16 (off 49th Street beside Gresham Hall Main)
• Webb Center VIP Plaza Lot (off 49th Street)
