Seminar Aids Researchers at Avoiding False Positives in Studies

In research, a major threat to validity of studies is so-called "false positives" - findings that appear to be present but in fact are not.

Old Dominion University researchers seeking to find out information about false positives, and how to avoid them, are invited to a free workshop geared toward quantitative research in the Learning Commons @ Perry Library, on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

The 12:30-2:30 p.m. event "Reproducible Research Practices" will be held in Conference Rooms 1310-1311. Sponsored by Old Dominion University Libraries and the Center for Open Science (COS), the workshop, led by COS instructor Courtney Soderberg, will cover techniques and tools researchers can implement to increase the openness and reproducibility of their research.

The workshop is part of International Open Access Week, October 20-26. Lunch will be provided.
