Learning Community:Health Professions

Health Professions - HEALTH SCIENCES MAJORS ONLY

The Health Professions LC provides an opportunity for students in health sciences majors to network and study together. Created by the College of Health Sciences (COHS), this LC is open to students in Health Sciences majors including nursing, dental hygiene, cytotechnology, environmental health, health services administration, medical technology, nuclear medicine technology, public health, and ophthalmic technology. Admission into Health Sciences programs is competitive because there are more applicants than spots available for each major. This LC will provide students with tools for academic success and help them build the strong academic foundation needed to be competitive for admission into health sciences majors. Students in this learning community will register for a set of common courses, including HLTH 101: Introduction to Health Professions. In HLTH 101 students will learn study skills and explore various health professions. Students will also have opportunities to interact with faculty and students within the College of Health Sciences.

There are four sets of Health Professions LCs from which you can choose. Students in this learning community will be required to enroll in the common courses listed below.

If you are interested in joining a Health Professions Learning Community, email Katie Ferrara (kferrara@odu.edu) with your name, UIN and your preferred LC section.
