Commonwealth Special Education Endorsement Program (CSEEP)
Through a grant funded by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), the Darden College of Education of Old Dominion University has initiated a distance learning endorsement program for conditionally licensed special educators teaching in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Paraprofessional Preparation for Extraordinary Teaching (PPET) grant program
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the Darden College of Education of Old Dominion University are seeking paraprofessionals, teachers' aides and long term substitutes who are interested in obtaining an initial license in special education in the areas of ED, LD, or MR. Applicants must hold bachelor's degrees from an accredited university and passing Praxis I (or acceptable equivalent) scores.

TeachVirginia
TeachVirginia is dedicated to providing information on special education personnel preparation programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia Department of Education Tuition Assistance for Special Educators
The Department of Education has budgeted a portion of Virginia's Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B grant funds to provide tuition assistance of up to $400 per course for a maximum of three courses per year for special educators and paraprofessionals working in special education classrooms. This program also provides assistance to early childhood special educators.

Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program Application
The primary purpose of the VTSLP is to provide financial support to students who are preparing to teach in one of Virginia's critical shortage fields. The critical shortage fields are determined annually through the Supply and Demand Survey of Administrative and Instructional Personnel, distributed to every school division in Virginia by the Department of Education. Shortages in specific subject areas are derived from the top 10 academic disciplines identified by the survey as shortage fields. More info. Requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader

Old Dominion University Scholarships through Office of Student Financial Assistance There are a number of scholarships available to students majoring in special education. Contact Karen Kendall, Scholarship Coordinator, Office of Student Financial Assistance at (757) 683-5524.

"Teach for Virginia" Student Loan Program The "Teach for Virginia" loan provides students with financing options for serving in a critical profession.
