Motion Analysis Lab / Functional Balance Room

 1) The Motion Analysis Room of the research lab is equipped with a MotionMonitor/Flock of Birds and two Bertec force plates system, a Delsys Bagnoli 16 channel EMG system, and a BTE Primus RS.

2) The Balance Room is walled off from the functional assessment area to provide for a more optimal testingenvironment. The room is equipped with the Smart Balance Master (by NeuroCom International, Inc.). This system can be used for both sensory organization testing as well as dynamic balance assessment (5 ft. accessory forceplate).

The MotionMonitorä is a real-time 3D motion capture system designed for use in medical research; physical therapy clinics; sports medicine labs; motor control, balance, neurological, and gait studies; golf, tennis and baseball instruction: and, other situations where precise measurements of the body and its movement through time are required. We are dedicated to providing the latest in research tools as highlighted in the side panel.  Passive video from Motion Analysis Corporation and Qualysis, AB; eye tracking with the Eyelink II from SR Research; haptics from Sensable Technology's PHANToM devices integrated with 3-D Immersive Displays from SenseGraphics are now available only with The MotionMonitorä.
 Applications:
▪Research - a complete data acquisition system supporting Ascension  magnetic trackers, Optotrak by NDI, Polhemus Fastrak and Liberty, force  plates, EMG, video and event markers with a simple, flexible and intuitive  setup process and extensive data reporting options including standard  kinematic data and joint moments and forces
▪Clinics - a suite of Physical Therapy applications that provide clinicians with  objective data regarding the patient’s condition before and after therapy.   Track Range of Motion, Tremor, Cobb and Kyphosis Angles and perform  Gait Analysis, Balance Assessment, Spine Assessment, Lift Training, Golf  Analysis and Biofeedback Training all in one package.
▪Sports - a complete analysis system that precisely monitors all aspects of  sports movements involving golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis rackets and  hockey sticks. The Swing Trainer provides a scientific foundation for  measuring and evaluating your motion
▪Injury Prevention - a fresh new approach to lifting instruction that incorporates many of the concepts used in behavioral modification and biofeedback conditioning. Unlike traditional back education, which has typically focused on teaching the concepts behind good lifting techniques,
The Lift Trainer focuses on and measures behavioral change.

The Flock can be configured to track from one to four sensors simultaneously with one or more RS-232 interfaces to a host computer. Long range coverage is easily added by "clicking in" our Extended-Range Transmitter (ERT/ERC). For high speed operations, add more RS-232 ports and use our Fast Bird Bus (FBB).

 Application:
 Head/Hand/Instrument Body Tracking
 Virtual reality
 Flight simulation
 Scientific visualization
 Medical Imaging
 Entertainment
 Biomechanical/Human Factors Analysis
 Rehabilitative Feedback & Assessment
 3D Graphics Control & Manipulation

 f) Link Forceplates to info and address

Bertec's product line of force plates have been specifically designed for gait, balance, sports as well as other static and dynamic analyses. Designs to suit for both static and dynamic applications have been achieved through the use of strain gage technology, innovative mechanical and electronics designs, and quality manufacturing. Each force plate consists of a number of strain-gaged load transducers and a built-in digital amplifier for signal conditioning. Bertec force plates come in a variety of sizes and associated load ranges to suit different application needs. The 4550, 4060 and 4080 series plates are generally used for clinical and research gait analysis, whereas 6090, 9090 and 6012 series force plates are well suited for the rigors of sports and other dynamic biomechanics, ergonomics and industrial research.

The quality in-shoe dynamic pressure measuring system
The pedar system is an accurate and reliable pressure distribution measuring system for monitoring local loads between the foot and the shoe. The pedar-X offers the ultimate versatility with its multiple standard features and operating modes. The pedar-X can be tethered to a PC via a fiber optic USB cable. It can function in a mobile capacity with its built-in state of the art BluetoothTM technology that is able to communicate with BluetoothTM compatible pocket, notebook, or standard PC's. And, as yet another alternative, the pedar-X has a built-in flash memory storage allowing data to be collected anywhere and later downloaded to the computer.

Applications of pedar systems
 shoe research and design
 aid in orthotic design
 rehabilitation assessment
    kinetic analysis of free gait
 long term load monitoring
 sport biomechanics
 biofeedback

Neurocom pic and info

The interactive technology and clinically proven protocols allow the clinician to objectively and systematically assess sensory and voluntary motor components of balance control. The objective data helps the clinician accurately identify underlying impairments for more effective treatment planning.
