Certificate Programs

The ID&T program in the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University will design and develop customized certificate programs based needs. For example, Norfolk Public Schools and York County Schools offered a nine-graduate credit certificate program for qualified teachers. The school systems paid the tuition (reduced for contract courses) for Instructional Technology and the Classroom, Digital Media for Educators, and Microcomputer Hardware Systems in Education. Students who complete the certificate are considered candidates for moving into Computer Resource positions.

The ID&T program also designed a 24 graduate-credit-hour program for Instructional Design personnel (both military and civilian) at Fort Eustis. The 24 hours represented an entire Master's program except for the two research courses. Students' tuition was paid for by the Army, and all students were encouraged to complete their degrees.
