Admission
You
will need to work with two faculty members Dr. Lucking
and Dr. Overbaugh. All
paperwork is required to be submitted to Dr.
Bob Lucking (rlucking@odu.edu) who is the official Graduate
Program Director for Secondary Education (Dr. Overbaugh is the
program director for ID&T) You
may discuss admissions requirements with Dr. Lucking and then
seek academic advising from Dr. Overbaugh (roverbau@odu.edu) or
vice versa. You may take up to 12 credits before being admitted
to the program. You can also
be admitted anytime during a semester as the processing is done
electronically via e-mail.
Admissions Procedures Admission to the program requires a Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score of at least 45 or a combined score of 900 on the verbal and quantitative sub-test on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). If the combined verbal and quantitative combined is slightly less than 900, we look at the analytical section. Also needed is a grade point average of 3.0 in the undergraduate major and 2.5 in cumulative course work. Students with scores lower than recommended above may be accepted on a provisional basis.
Non-Degree Admission A potential student who has a baccalaureate degree but has not been formally admitted to a graduate program at Old Dominion University is considered to be a non-degree seeking student.
