Welcome to Instructional Design & Technology
Instructional Design and Technology has grown to become a vital and important field. Practitioners are found in many areas, such as:

Elementary and secondary school classrooms, where teachers enhance their own professional development by becoming educational technologists.

Industry. Business is the largest employer of instructional technologists, with fields including human resource development (HRD), human performance, and corporate training.

The Military, where instructional technologists are asked to develop and deliver courses, training programs, and other instructional materials in each of the armed services.

The ID&T program at the Darden College of Education provides students with a solid grounding in instructional design and cognitive theory to meet these challenges. Our wide variety of course offerings are designed to give the graduate a strong background in both the theory and practice of the field. All students will master the following areas:
