Technology in the classroom is more than the sum of computer applications, computer programming and computer assisted study. It embraces each of these specific disciplines but also a great deal more. It involves educators and administrators at the highest levels recognizing and applying the opportunities presented by technology in the classroom. It requires engaging staff and students to continue to stretch the horizon of learning. The coursework in Old Dominion University's Instructional Design and Technology program engages the postgraduate level student well beyond the level of employing current technology applications. It provides the foundation for application of new concept technology, asynchronous and self-paced computer assisted study, as well as programs focused on serving the instructor in the modern classroom. Facilitating
this instruction process is no easy task. The instructors at Old
Dominion University are experts in displaying and integrating all
forms of educational technology in a structured learning environment
that makes it The world of education technology is one of continuous and rapid change. Old Dominion University's Instructional Design and Technology program will continue to change and grow with the times, but it will continue to meet its primary goal- "to provide a program that meet the needs of professionals interested or involved in the development and delivery of instruction".
