Christopher Gelfand

I am currently working as a trainer at Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard in the Radiological Control Department. My undergraduate degree is in Human Relations (sociology/psychology split major) from Earlham College received in 1974. I entered the US Navy’s nuclear program in 1976 and volunteered for Submarines. I spent time in Hawaii, up-state New York (as a trainer), and finished my 20 years in Norfolk.

I have been married to Edith for 22 years and we have two daughters. One pursuing a teaching career interested in special education and the younger is thinking of architecture. We have one grandson who takes up a lot of Edith’s spare time. It does take a lot of time to spoil the grandchild to just the right amount before you send him home

I my spare time, I become an old west cowboy and have blended my love of history with my enjoyment of shooting. I am a life member of Single Action Shooting Society where we take on an old west cowboy persona and compete using replicas of the pistols, rifles and shotguns of the old west.
