Personal
Information
I
was born in a small town in north China, which lied on the
bank of the Yellow River—the second longest river in
China, and one of the longest rivers in the world. My family
(extended family) is well known in my hometown as a “Teacher
Family”, as there are several teachers—good teachers—in
each generation. I stayed there until I became a college student.
I have very pleasant memories of that period of time.

Educational
Background
After
finishing my elementary and secondary education in my hometown, I
attended a college in the city of Taiyuan—the capital city
of Shaixi Province (six-hour drive from Beijing), where I got my
Bachelor’s degree, and then Master’s degree in linguistics.
In the year 2000, I came to the United States to pursue my doctorate,
majoring in Education.
Professional
Experiences
|
I
spent seven years teaching English in a high school in my hometown,
and then was employed as a college instructor (teacher educator)
for 12 years. During these years, I was awarded five prizes
for “Excellent Teaching”, which makes me feel that
I have lived up to my family title—“Teacher Family”.
Since
I came to the States, I’ve been working as a graduate
assistant of Dr. Allen, coordinating observation placement
for ECI 301 students. Thanks to the help and support of Dr.
Allen and some other faculty and staff, I survived my first
job in a foreign country. In a few weeks, we will celebrate
the coming of a new year—2004, when I begin to work for
Dr. Overbaugh as his graduate assistant. I’ll help Dr.
Overbaugh with the WHRO-NCLB Grant Evaluation. It would be
a new challenge for me, which I like.
I’m
sure I’ll be a better teacher with the knowledge and
experiences gained in the United States!
