.1 Teachers vs. Administrators

• Teachers and Administrators are on the SAME TEAM (both are there for the kids) even though teachers don't think so
• Admnistrators are there to support teachers to try new things, and take the heat when they are controversial
• Teaching will not be considered a full profession until they are paid the same as administrators

Do teachers and administrators typically feel that they are on the same side? What leads to a happy school environment - teachers and administrators being on the same side or those same people being at odds with one another?
Mr. Anderson is the principal of a nice, suburban high school. The school runs fairly smoothly, and he is proud of this fact. When the head of the mathematics department comes to him to discuss curriculum problems that have happened in her class (schedule behind, not enough details, etc.), he suggests that she give him a few days to think about what she has said and let him form a solution. What should Mr. Anderson do to address this problem, and how can he do so without making the math department head feel that he is ignoring her requests and concerns?
