  • Dr. Joshi received the B. Tech and M. Tech Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1983, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1985, respectively. His Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering was from Arizona State University, Tempe, in 1988. His Ph.D. research involved analytic modeling of ultrafast relaxation in photoexcited quantum wells. He was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Arizona State University from 1988-1989. He is currently a Professor at Old Dominion niversity. Dr. Joshi is involved in research broadly encompassing modeling and simulations of charge transport, simulation of electronic devices and semiconductors based on the III-V, III-N, SiC and Si material systems , non-equilibrium high-field phenomena, breakdown physics, and computational bio-electrics. He has applied Boltzmann Transport codes, as well as Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics methods for simulations of high-field transport in bulk and quantum well semiconductors, opto-electronic devices, breakdown of lipid-membranes, electroporation in biological cells and related ion-channel transport , and electro-thermal stressing of liquids and nano-composites. He is the author of over 130 journal publications, has over 130 presentations and conference papers, and given over 20 invited talks. He was the Guest Editor of 3 Special Issues of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science. The topic was "Nonthermal Medical/Biological Applications Using Ionized Gases and Electromagnetic Fields". He has also organized international conference sessions in this area. He has been a visiting scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Kirtland Laboratory, Motorola, NASA Goddard, and Brooks Base in the past. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and reviewer for several journals and review panels. He has graduated over 45 students, is an ODU University Professor, and listed in Listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and in the American Men and Women of Science.
