With over 25 years of experience in information technology, Doug is a seasoned leader and innovator who is passionate about enhancing the IT capabilities and information security of Old Dominion University (ODU) and beyond. As the Interim Associate Vice President of Information Technology and CIO, he oversaw the strategic and operational planning, budgeting, and governance of IT services and resources for a premier regional R1 Carnegie Classified research doctoral university, working with a talented and committed team of IT professionals and stakeholders across the campus.

Doug served as the Executive Director of IT Security and Planning, and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for over a decade, responsible for the development and implementation of ODU's information security program, identity management and middleware developer services, records management, IT project management, and strategic & operational planning. He holds a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential, and has extensive expertise in IT management, information security program development, risk management, compliance, and IT security operations.

Doug is a proud alumnus of the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Oceanography, and served as a Naval Officer for several years, receiving a Navy Achievement Medal and other recognition. He is happily married for 34 years, and the father of three ODU graduates.
