THOMAS KILBY
Director, Strategic Business Development

Based on his diverse business experience and consistent management success, Mr. Kilby's expertise ranges from the planning and development of new businesses to the executive general management of successful business turnarounds and start-ups. His focus has been on identifying and resolving key issues, refining and developing strategy and tactics, and producing measurable positive change.

Mr Kilby has also been actively involved in the development of international businesses throughout most of his career. He lived and worked for several years in both Europe and Australia, and has also worked in the United States for three different foreign owned companies, where he was CEO, President, and Vice President, Sales & Marketing, respectively.

His key skill sets reflect consistent, measurable success in general management, strategic business planning, turnaround management, marketing strategy, marketing communications, brand development, new business start-ups, product line strategy, international business development, executive coaching, distribution refinement, acquisitions, and building strong, sustainable customer relationships.

Recent clients Mr. Kilby has assisted include, among others, the U.S. Navy Supply Command, a large regional accounting and consulting firm, and a start-up, software oriented industrial facility management systems company.

In addition to his role as Director of Strategic Business Development of the Center, he is also a Research Professor and Executive in Residence member of the adjunct faculty in the College of Business and Public Administration at ODU and teaches graduate and under graduate courses in Marketing and Small Business Operations.

Mr Kilby graduated from the University of Hartford (West Hartford, CT) where he received a BA degree in Behavioral Sciences. He also speaks German and some Spanish.
