Dennis Ackerman - Director & Founder

During his tenure as founder and Director of the Entrepreneurial Center, Mr. Ackerman has worked with and assisted hundreds of businesses, generally providing assistance and guidance in the area of business planning and implementation.

Under his direction the Center has raised more than $300 million in debt/ equity, created or saved almost 2,000 jobs, and generated more than $6 million in annual taxes for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mr. Ackerman is also a member of the adjunct faculty of ODU's College of Business and Public Administration.

Terry Franklin Byrum (Frank) - Chief Scientist

Mr. Byrum has been involved in the building of large scale software, computing and network architecture for 18 years. Past employers include Digital Equipment Corporation, InfiNet, GreatBridge, NetworkTwo, NorthWall, and Brooks Financial Systems.

His strengths include software development, network and computing infrastructure designs, and security. For the last 7 years, Mr. Byrum's focus has directed technology organizations at the executive level.

Thomas Kilby - Director, Strategic Business Development

Mr. Kilby has enjoyed an unusually successful and diverse career, including significant achievements working for nine leading companies in eight different industries. Past employers include Armstrong World Industries (a FORTUNE 250 company at the time), Congoleum Corporation, Levolor, Waring Products, Stihl Incorporated, Zumtobel Lighting, Sigvaris Medical Products, Hayward Industries, and Colt Firearms.

He has contributed measurably to the profitable growth of these companies in a wide variety of business roles, including marketing, sales, international business development, strategic planning, and complete P&L responsible general management as CEO with three firms.

Mr. Kilby teaches marketing courses as an adjunct faculty member of ODU's College of Business and Public Administration.

Stephen CuUnjieng, MBA, LLB - Director, International Programs & Projects

In addition to his role as a Director of the Bank of America Entrepreneurial Center at Old Dominion University, Mr. CuUnjieng is also Managing Director and Vice President of HFS Capital LLC, where he is involved in a variety of significant investment and financing projects.

Mr. CuUnjieng was a Managing Director of Merrill Lynch, a Director at Salomon Brothers, a Director with Morgan Grenfell Asia, and Managing Director of the investment arm of PCI Bank in The Philippines. He joined PCI from American Express Bank Limited, where he was part of their New York based merchant banking group.
