Obesity is considered the largest public health problem worldwide and has been identified as the major causes of type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, various cancers, and other health problems that can lead to further morbidity and mortality. The American Medical Association has classified obesity as a disease this year calling for research that would lead to development of new and effective method for treatment of obesity and obesity-associated diseases. The objective of this talk is to share our experience and progress toward development of gene transfer-based approach for prevention of diet-induced obesity and obesity-associated insulin resistance.
