Spring 2010 Spring Break Study Abroad Options:
ENGLISH 495/595 - "The Literary Landscape of Mexico" - A survey of the literary and cultural expressions of our southern neighbor as well as the border and relationships we share through readings in translation of fiction, poetry and essays by important Mexican writers. This course includes three pre-trip class meetings on Saturday mornings (Jan. 23, Feb. 6, and Feb. 20, 2010) to discuss assigned readings and prepare for travel, an excursion to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta over spring break (March 5-14, 2010), and one post-trip class gathering to be determined during the study abroad program. This course partners with GEOG 496/596, and both the English and Geography class groups take the same study abroad program.

GEOGRAPHY 496/596 - "Cultural Geography of Mexico" - A study of the cultural geography of Latin America through the lens of study abroad immersion program in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta during spring break (March 5-14, 2010); course also includes three pre-trip class meetings on Saturday mornings (Jan. 23, Feb. 6, and Feb. 20, 2010) to discuss assigned readings and prepare for travel, as well as one post-trip class gathering to be determined during the study abroad program.
