NOTE: Students must begin exams at least 2 hours prior to closing.
Policy and Guidelines
Identification
Students MUST present a legible University picture ID to gain entrance to an exam for which they have registered in advance with Joe Blanchard at 368-4107.
In very few emergency cases, a one-time use of a valid driver's license or military ID may be used (at the discretion of the manager on duty). In this case, the student must submit his or her eight-digit University Identification Number (UIN). If the student does not have either of these items, he or she will not be authorized to gain entrance to the exam. Except for religious or medical reasons, wearing hats and other headgear is not allowed in the testing room.
Electronic Devices
All electronic devices (e.g. cell phone, beeper, PDA, etc.) must be turned off, placed in your backpack, or stored in the lockers provided. Failure to follow this policy will result in the student's dismissal from the testing room.
Honor Code and Code of Student Conduct
The University Honor Code is in effect at all times.

Food, Drink, Gum
Food, drink, and gum are not allowed in the lab. You are requested to leave these items outside the entrance to the testing room.
Respect for University Property
Students are expected to respect all equipment in the lab, including workstations, computers, and multimedia viewing machines and head sets.
Failure to follow the guidelines listed above will have one or more of the following consequences:
- Immediate dismissal from the lab.
- Loss of privileges.
- Submission of a disciplinary report to your faculty member and/or the University Disciplinary Committee.

Proctored Testing
Student Guidelines
Scheduling: The only time students schedule directly with Testing Services at ODU-Virginia Beach is for make up exams. Otherwise, scheduling is handled by faculty. Make up exams may be scheduled Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment only. All make up testing is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please contact Joe Blanchard at 368-4107 or jblancha@odu.edu and schedule as early as possible.
To schedule an appointment for a make-up exam, you must contact Joe Blanchard no later than 4:00pm the day prior to the desired exam day.
Student Registered with Office of Educational Accessibility:
Testing will take place in the Learning Commons testing room during your regular class time for students registered in ODU-VB class sections. You must have an Accommodation Letter on file with the Testing Services Coordinator and you must contact Joe Blanchard at 368-4107 to make testing arrangments.
Faculty Guidelines
Testing Services at ODU-Virginia Beach administers tests/exams in a proctored environment. Old Dominion University faculty may schedule proctored testing for a select number of make up exams. Testing Services at ODU-Virginia Beach also provides proctoring for Distance Learning partner organizations. For more information, please contact Joe Blanchard at 368-4107 or jblancha@odu.edu.
To obtain your preferred testing date(s) when scheduling tests for an entire class, please schedule well in advance. If you wish to reserve testing time for your students, please do the following:
- Contact Joe Blanchard at 368-4107 or email him at jblancha@odu.edu in advance of the preferred test date.
- Schedule a date and time for the test.
- Please inform students of the test time, test location, and testing facility policies.
- Arrange to have the test delivered to the Testing Services Office at least two working days prior to the scheduled time.
- The first page of each copy of the exam should contain the following information (at a minimum): Instructor Name, Class, Special Instructions. (e.g., Prof. Jones, MEDT 309, this is a closed book exam, you may use a calculator).
- Students using the testing room should be advised to show up at the time you have coordinated and scheduled with the Testing Services Office. If you have a student taking a make up exam, the student should contact the Testing Services Office to schedule an appointment for this. All make up exams must be completed on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday only.
- Students should also be advised to bring the following items to the Testing Services Office. The Testing Services Office can not provide these items for any student:
- Valid picture ID
- Scratch paper
- Onsite Class Exam Administration Request: (PDF, Word)
