MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to Old Dominion University's Virginia Beach home!

Renee Olander, Director

We are a full-service branch of the university offering more than two dozen graduate and undergraduate degrees, as well as certificate and licensure programs, that you may pursue and complete here in Virginia Beach without ever having to travel to the main campus, if that's what best meets your higher education needs.  Our degree and non-credit programming is available through the entire range of effective educational models, from live, face-to-face classroom instruction in which faculty use vanguard teaching and learning technologies, to two-way video-conferencing, web-based, and satellite course deliveries.

Our areas of special emphasis include degree programs in: Business and Business Administration; Health Professions, including Nursing, Nurse Leadership, Cytotechnology, and Community and Public Health; Teacher Preparation, including Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education; and degrees in Psychology, Communication, Human Services, Work and Professional Studies, and more.  Students may also take advantage of an array of academic success support services at the Beach, including academic advising and registration assistance, testing services, Writing Tutorial Services, the Career Management Center's Cyber Career Coach, and more.

The pages of this website list our degree and noncredit course offerings, provide information and links for our array of free public events, including visual arts installations, guest lectures, a film festival, and a National Poetry Month celebration.

We also provide information about our partners here in our Virginia Beach Higher Education Center facility - Norfolk State University, the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, the Institute for Learning in Retirement, and the Virginia-Tidewater-Consortium Education Opportunity Center - which we hope you will find helpful.

Whatever your pursuit is here in our academic community, we welcome you and wish you the greatest success!

Please let me know if you have ideas about how we can better serve your higher education needs.
