AMOUNT_NOTE: The Selected Professions Fellowship stipends range from $5,000 to $12,000 and are awarded in two equal payments. Stipend checks are made payable to fellows, not to institutions. These fellowships fund academic and living expenses for a 12-month period (July 1, through June 30), including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and local transportation for the degree candidate. Fellowship funds may be used for dependent care if essential in facilitating the candidate's pursuit of her educational study or research.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be women who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. There are no restrictions on an applicant's age or institution of study within the United States. Applicants must be full-time students at an accredited U.S. institution during the fellowship year, and should be pursuing a course of study over the full academic year. Applicants must not have previously received a Selected Professions Fellowship. Applicants may apply for any year of study. Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate their intent to enter professional practice in disciplines in which women are underrepresented, to serve underserved populations and communities or to pursue public interest areas and to applicants who are nontraditional students. AAUW members, AAUW Educational Foundation, and Association boards, committee, panels, task forces, staff and current interns are not eligible to apply for Selected Professions Fellowships.

ABSTRACT: As part of the Selected Professions Fellowships Program, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation awards Science and Technology Group Fellowships to American women who have achieved high standards of academic excellence and show promise of distinction in their respective fields. These disciplines are eligible for fellowship funding: \1. Architecture (M.Arch.), (M.A.)\2. Computer Science and Information Science (M.S.)\3. Engineering (M.E., M.S.)\4. Mathematics and Statistics (M.S.)\\AAUW Educational Foundation Selected Professions Fellows are expected to pursue a full-time course of study during the fellowship year. Fellowships support traditional classroom-based courses of study at colleges or universities. This fellowship program does not provide funding for distance learning programs or for degrees heavily dependent on distance learning components.

ABSTRACT: The Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) annually awards the Horton Research Grants in support of research projects in hydrology and water resources by Ph.D. candidates in institutions of higher education and is awarded annually. This program's objective is to foster graduate student research leading to the completion of doctoral dissertations. Appropriate topics may be in hydrology (including its physical, chemical, or biological aspects) or in water resources policy sciences (including economics, systems analysis, sociology, and law).

AMOUNT_NOTE: The recipient will be notified by May, and will be publicly recognized at the Annual Conference of the AWWA held in mid-June. The fellowship will provide up to $20,000 for one year, consisting of a $15,000 stipend distributed over 12 months, plus $1,000 for research supplies and equipment, and an education allowance of up to $4,000 to cover the cost of tuition and other fees. A portion of the allotment for research supplies and equipment may be used for travel provided that the travel is essential to the research. A second year of support will be awarded upon submission of evidence of satisfactory progress and approval by the University Student Activities Committee.

ELIGIBILITY: The candidate must be a U.S. citizen who is enrolled full time as a graduate or undergraduate student at the time of application. Minimum second-year students only will be accepted. Undergraduate transcripts at the time of application must reflect a one-year minimum of coursework completed based on a 30-semester hour equivalent. Classes in progress at the time of application cannot be used towards the one-year minimum completion. For programs with six-week semester intervals, a minimum of three three-credit hour classes must be in progress or the equivalent. For undergraduate applicants, two semesters of calculus must be completed (based on a 30-semester hour equivalent) and reflected on the transcript. Calculus in progress will not qualify. AMOUNT_NOTE: The number of awards varies yearly. Initial support for the Graduate Fellowships may be for two or three years, or for a full six years, depending on the employer-sponsor. If the initial support is for the shorter period, it may be extended up to six years at the discretion of the employer. The Dissertation Support Program covers the period of dissertation research and defense, up to a maximum of four years.\\The charge to the employer for each student supported is $21,000, of which $16,000 is the stipend to the student and $5,000 goes to NPSC to support its operations.
ELIGIBILITY: NPSC welcomes applications from any qualified U.S. citizen who has the ability to pursue graduate work at an NPSC member institution. NPSC attempts to recruit a diverse pool of applicants with a special emphasis on underrepresented minorities and women. Applicants should be in one of the following categories:
1. Be in their senior year with at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA
2. Be in their first year of a graduate program pursuing a Ph.D.
3. Be in a terminal master's program (if the student's university offers no Ph.D. in their discipline)

AMOUNT_NOTE: The NSF expects to award 1,100 Graduate Research Fellowships under this program solicitation.The affiliated institution receives a $40,500 award for the costs described below. Fellows abroad receive direct NSF grant awards up to the same amount. The Graduate Research Fellowship stipend is currently $30,000 for a 12-month tenure period, prorated monthly at $2,500 for shorter periods. At its discretion, the affiliated institution may supplement a fellow's stipend from institutional funds as allowable according to the policies of the institution. NSF will provide the affiliated institution, on behalf of the fellow, a cost of education allowance of $10,500 per tenure year. If a fellow affiliates with a foreign institution, tuition and assessed fees will be reimbursed to the fellow up to a maximum of $10,500 per tenure year. All awards will be for a maximum of three years usable over a five-year period.
ELIGIBILITY: Fellowship applications must be submitted by the prospective fellow. Applicants must register with the FastLane system prior to submitting an application and must affiliate with an accredited United States university, college, or nonprofit academic institution or appropriate international institution of higher education offering advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics prior to activating the fellowship award. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States.
