Full-time
- Fall and Spring Terms: A minimum of 12 semester hours for undergraduates, and 9 semester hours for graduate students constitutes full-time enrollment.
- Summer Term: A minimum of 9 hours for undergraduates and 6 hours for graduate students.
Half-time
- Fall and Spring Terms: A minimum of 6 semester hours for undergraduates, and 4 semester hours for graduate students constitutes full-time enrollment.
- Summer Term: A minimum of 5 hours for undergraduates and 3 hours for graduates students.
Being classified half-time is important because, as a general rule, a student must be enrolled at least half-time to keep the repayment of student loans in deferment.
Effect of Withdraw/Audit:
Audit and "W" (withdraw) grades do not count toward full-time enrollment and could take you below the minimum hours required to maintain full-time or part-time status. Eligibility for financial aid, loans, insurance, and veterans benefits may be affected for those who fall below the minimum. Consult your financial aid counselor or lender for enrollment requirements.
Certification of Enrollment:
The Registrar's Office will certify you as being pre-enrolled for a given semester until after the last day to register or add classes. After the registration deadline, you are certified as an enrolled student and your status is reported to the National Student Clearinghouse.
Files are electronically transmitted to the NSLC 3 to 5 business days after the registration deadline and take approximately one week to be posted to the NSLC website, at which time they are available to lenders that utilize the NSLC service.
