Faculty Summer Exchange Program Application

The University of Kitakyushu (Kitakyushu, Japan - on the southern island of Kyushu), a long-time ODU partner, has offered Old Dominion University the opportunity to send one professor to teach American Society/American Culture to their students this summer. Classes will be conducted from August 23 to September 8 (about two weeks).
The ODU faculty member will teach a series of 15 classes (3 classes per day for 5 days, or 5 classes per day for 3 days). Typically faculty have chosen to teach three 90 minute courses each day for 5 days. The rate of compensation for each class is about 11,700 yen per class (approximately $140 USD). Housing will be provided by the University of Kitakyushu. Airfare will be provided by the Office of International Programs.
Recent participants in the program include: David Roh (2011), Victoria Time (2008), Peter Schulman (2007), Lynn Doyle (2006), Joseph Cosco (2005), Jonathan Appel (2004) and Stacey Plichta (2003). The program is open to full-time faculty from any discipline.
