First Steps / Getting Started

1. Attend an information session
   Thirty-minute sessions held weekly each semester.  Information on study abroad opportunities, eligibility requirements, scholarships and planning.  In the meantime, check out the program options before attending an information session.
   
2. Attend a Study Abroad Fair
   Fairs are held early in October and early in February at the Webb Center.  Talk with students who have returned from studying abroad about their experiences and meet exchange students from partner universities abroad.  Faculty study abroad leaders are also available to give you details about programs they will be leading during the coming spring break or summer sessions.  Register for a drawing for a $1000 study abroad award.
   
3. Make an individual appointment with the study abroad advisor
   Individual appointments assist you in identifying the study abroad option that best matches your personal and academic interests.  Discuss application procedures, transfer credit approval, financial aid, scholarships and ask any questions you have about studying abroad.  You can schedule an appointment after you have attended an information session by calling the Office of Study Abroad (683-5378).
   
4. Apply for the program of your choice and start the journey of a lifetime!
   
   Note: Allow yourself plenty of time to complete a program application, finish your academic planning, fulfill financial aid and scholarship requirements, and get ready to study abroad.  Typically application deadlines range from three months to one year before the program starts.

Program Options

Semester / Academic Year
Students who are interested in studying abroad for a semester or academic year should consider Exchange Programs and/or Affiliated Programs.

Short - Term Programs
Students who are interested in a study abroad program during spring or summer break should consider a short-term program.
