SEMESTER/YEAR LONG PROGRAMS

Aalborg University, Denmark
Course Selection and Transfer Credit Process

  1. Go to the International Cultural Studies homepage: http://www.hum.aau.dk/ics/home.html
  2. Click on "courses"; then select "Fall 2008" or "Spring 2008"; Students should select the term that they will be studying at Aalborg (i.e. students studying during the Fall 2009 semester should select "Fall 2008" when researching classes).
  3. Select the courses (under "Courses taught in English") that are of interest.
  4. Print the course descriptions (you will need these course descriptions when seeking transfer credit approval from the appropriate chief departmental advisor at ODU)

What is offered in "Spring 2008" will most likely be offered in "Spring 2009." For now this is the best information available - get as many courses approved as possible.

ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer System. Old Dominion divides this number in half when determining credit awards. Ex. - A class valued at 5 ECTS will transfer as 2.5 ODU credits even if the information from Aalborg recommends a different credit award, the system used by Old Dominion is to divide ECTS in half!

You should seek approval of all proposed courses from the Chief Departmental Advisor in various departments at Old Dominion. Approval must be given on an official Transfer Credit Evaluation form obtained from the Office of Study Abroad. You will most likely be required to meet with several different chief departmental advisors before all of your courses are pre-approved. You can obtain a list of the appropriate chief departmental advisors from the study abroad advisor.
