SPEAK & TOEFL Exams

SPEAK Test 

The SPEAK test is administered in January, April, July, August, and November. Students taking the test in July may not repeat it in August.  Departments which intend to hire a student as a teaching assistant and who wish to pay for the exam, should write a letter to the ELC with an applicable budget code and the student's name. All other students will need to register in person and pay $100 at the ELC office in 1114 Hughes Hall.  Because of space/personnel constraints, only graduate students who are being considered for a teaching assistantship during the current semester can be tested.

TOEFL Exam 

The paper-based (PBT) TOEFL is generally administered approximately once a month, January to December.  Students register in person and pay $45 at the ELC office in 1114 Hughes Hall.  The scores on the PBT are acceptable at Old Dominion University only.
