SPEAK & TOEFL Exams

SPEAK Test  

The SPEAK test is administered in January, April, July, August, and November/December. Students taking the test in July may not repeat it in August.  Departments which intend to hire a student as a teaching assistant and who wish to pay for the exam, should write a letter to the ELC with an applicable budget code and the student's name. All other students will need to register in person and pay $100 at the ELC office in 1108 Dragas Hall.  Because of space/personnel constraints, only graduate students who are being considered for a teaching assistantship during the current semester can be tested.

TOEFL Exam  

The paper-based (PBT) TOEFL is generally administered approximately once a semester, January to December.  Students register in person and pay $45 at the ELC office in 1108 Dragas Hall.  The scores on the PBT are acceptable at Old Dominion University only.
