Transfer Student Assessment

The Transfer Student Assessment is a University requirement, which consists of  two parts: the Transfer Student Survey (TSS) and the Biographical Questionnaire (BioQ).  Both must be completed during the initial, entering semester for all undergraduate transfer students, prior to pre-registration for the following semester.  Transfer students will have a hold placed on their record one week prior to pre-registration.  This hold will prevent students from registering for classes until completing the TSS and the BioQ.

Part 1:

• All entering, first-time, undergraduate transfer students attending PREVIEW will receive instructions from PREVIEW about completing the TSS prior to attending PREVIEW.  Click here and scroll down to the Placement Testing & Assessments section for more information. 
• All first-time, undergraduate transfer students not attending PREVIEW will receive a personal invitation to take the TSS shortly after the beginning of the fall or spring semester (those entering in summer will receive the invitation in the fall semester).  The invitation will only be e-mailed to transfer student's ODU e-mail addresses.  For those students who have not completed the TSS two weeks prior to pre-registration, reminder e-mails will be sent to transfer student's ODU e-mail address.

Part 2:

• All entering, first-time, undergraduate transfer students, who have completed the TSS will receive a personal invitation to take the TBioQ at the mid-semester point, of the entering semester.  The invitation will only be e-mailed to transfer student's ODU e-mail addresses.  For those students who have not completed the TBioQ two weeks prior to pre-registration, reminder e-mails will be sent to transfer student's ODU e-mail addresses.
• All entering, first-time, undergraduate transfer students not attending PREVIEW,

  will receive a personal invitation to take the TBioQ within 24 hours Monday through Friday after successfully completing the TSS.  The invitation will only be e-mailed to transfer student's ODU e-mail addresses.  For those students who have not completed the TBioQ two weeks prior to pre-registration, reminder e-mails will be sent to transfer student's ODU e-mail addresses.

After completing the TSS and BioQ, it is recommended to close your browser for security purposes. Within 24 hours, Monday through Friday, of successfully completing the TSS and BioQ each student will receive a confirmation e-mail, sent to their ODU e-mail address.  Additionally, student's academic records on Leo Online, will be updated and the registration hold will be removed, within 24 hours, Monday through Friday, after successfully completing the survey.

It is encouraged to complete the TSS and BioQ early enough to allow yourself to register on time. 

LOST or RESEND INVITATION:  Students who need an invitation to complete their TSS or BioQ need to complete the Assessment Request Form.  All requests are processed within 24 business hours, Monday through Friday.
