Appointments/Elections
ELIZABETH FRANCIS GILES, director of clinical education, School of Physical Therapy, appointed to the board of directors of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy to the Physical Therapist Task Force for the analysis of entry-level physical therapy practice, for calendar year 2006.

DENNIS E. GREGORY, associate professor of educational leadership and counseling, appointed associate editor of the NASPA Journal, which includes serving as book review editor.

GARRETT J. MCAULIFFE, professor of educational leadership and counseling, appointed to the editorial board for the new journal Adult Development, published through Harvard University.

LEON R.L. WANG, professor emeritus of civil engineering, appointed to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board by former Gov. Mark R. Warner.


Awards
KELLY JO KARNES, the Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2005 from the Association of Fraternity Advisors. She will serve as conference chair for the AFA’s 2006 annual meeting in New Orleans.

JAMES R. SWEENEY, professor of history, a Faculty Advisor Award from the national history honors society Phi Alpha Theta. He has been the adviser of ODU’s Theta-Xi chapter since 1974.
