Runte announces University Professor appointments

Four faculty members were named University Professors - three for the second time - by President Runte during her Aug. 22 address. The designation, created in 1998 as away to reward superior teachers, is for four years and includes an annual stipend of $2,500 to support teaching and professional development.

Reappointed were John P. Broderick, professor of English; Timothy McKee, associate professor of accounting; and Richard Whittecar, associate professor of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences. Receiving the honor for the first time was Roland Mielke, professor of electrical and computer engineering.
