Mengistu is latest winner of Fulbright grant

Berhanu Mengistu, professor of urban studies and public administration and director of the graduate program in urban services, spent six weeks this summer in Ethiopia on a Fulbright Senior Specialists grant.

He taught graduate-level courses in development issues and finance, and conducted workshops in public budgeting and finance at Addis Ababa University. He also conducted research for an academic text on governmental budgeting and finance with a focus on fiscal policy and privatization in developing nations

Mengistu was among the first grantees under the new Fulbright Senior Specialists short-term grants program. The new program offers two- to six-week grants to leading U.S. academics and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at academic institutions in 140 countries around the world.
