Alumni office sponsoring Tides game picnic and Redskins bus trip The Alumni Association and Office of Alumni Relations are sponsoring an All-American Picnic at the Norfolk Tides' 6:15 p.m. Aug. 31 games against Richmond and a weekend bus trip to a Washington Redskins game at FedEx Field Oct. 12-13. The Redskins will play the New Orleans Saints. President Roseann Runte is scheduled to throw out the first pitch at 6:05 p.m. at the Tides game, which will also feature a post-game fireworks show. The outing will actually include 1 1/2 games: the five-inning conclusion to an earlier game that was rained out, plus a full nine-inning contest. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for ODU students and $8 for children 8 and younger. The price includes a reserved seat and the picnic, which will feature hamburgers, potato salad, chips, cookies, watermelon, sodas and all the hot dogs you can eat. The picnic will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Redskins weekend get-away is $195 per person (based on double occupancy hotel accommodations) and includes round-trip bus transportation, hotel accommodations and upper-level seating game ticket. Lower-level seating is available for an additional $30. The bus will leave the Norfolk campus at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and arrive at the hotel (either the Hyatt or Holiday Inn) in Crystal City around noon. Guests will be free to tour Washington, D.C., throughout the day. At 7 p.m. the bus will take interested guests to either Old Town Alexandria or Georgetown and will return to the hotel at 11 p.m. The bus will depart the hotel at 11 a.m. Sunday for the 1 p.m. kickoff and return to Norfolk immediately following the game.
