Alumnus elected to seat in Va. General Assembly

Kenneth Cooper Alexander, a 1990 graduate of Old Dominion, was elected Aug. 6 to the Virginia General Assembly as state delegate from Norfolk's 89th District.

A Democrat, Alexander won a special election to succeed Jerrauld C. Jones, who stepped down from his seat to become director of the state's Department of Juvenile Justice.

Alexander, who is employed as a funeral home director, joins four other Old Dominion alumni in the General Assembly: John Cosgrove '85 of Chesapeake, Winsome E. Sears '92 of Norfolk, Kenneth R. Plum '65 of Fairfax and Harry R. "Bob" Purkey '68 of Virginia Beach.
