Faculty, staff contribute nearly $125,000 to Dominion Fund campus campaign

The 2002 Dominion Fund Campus Community Campaign topped its goal of $110,000 by 13 percent, taking in $124,256 from 667 university faculty and staff.

Thirty-four percent of employees made contributions to the campaign, run by the Office of Development. The average gift increased nearly a dollar, from $185.33 last year to $186.29 this year.

The Office of the President won the trophy for highest rate of participation, 74 percent. Student Services was close behind at 69 percent.

Other campaign highlights included:

- The Office of the President recorded the highest percentage of goal (227 percent), followed by Administration and Finance (155 percent) and Student Services (151 percent).

- The president's office also raised the most money, $19,275, and had the highest average gift, $688.39. The Athletic Department posted the second highest average gift, $384.32.

- The offices of Financial Aid and Real Estate, Space and Scheduling tied for the highest participation rate (100 percent) by office or department.

- David Hamel, an information technology specialist with the Office of Computing and Communications Services, won the drawing for a one-year reserved parking space. Employees who contributed $100 or more to the campaign were eligible to win.

- Bob Ash, interim associate vice president for research, won the drawing for two season tickets to either the Monarchs or Lady Monarchs home basketball games. Employees who contributed $100 or more to the Big Blue Club were eligible to win.
