Lauren Marsh named BOV student representative

Lauren Marsh, a sophomore psychology major from Virginia Beach, will serve as the student representative to the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors for 2002-03, the board voted April 12.

Marsh succeeds Mike Arendall, whose one-year term as a member of the board expires this spring.

Marsh is chair of the Old Dominion Homecoming Committee and the Student Senate Organizational Affairs Committee. She is a member of the University Athletics Committee and served on the Presidential Inauguration Committee as a student member in 2001.

She was a captain of the Student Senate Relay for Life Team this year and a volunteer for the Student Senate blood drive. She carries a 3.46 grade point average.

"Given the nature of her student activities, one would be hard-pressed to find another candidate who has a better sense of the issues important to students at Old Dominion than Lauren," said Mark Scerbo, associate professor of psychology, in a letter of recommendation.

Krista Harrell of Newport News, a graduate student in higher education, was selected as first alternate.
