Appointments/Elections
FRANK DAY, professor of biological sciences, elected vice president of the Society of Wetland Scientists for 2001-02. SWS is the largest professional organization in the world dedicated to the promotion of wetland research, conservation and education.
GARY R. EDGERTON, chair of communication and theatre arts, appointed to the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of American Culture and the Journal of Popular Culture.
FRAN HASSENCAHL, assistant professor of communication and theatre arts, elected to a two-year term as a member of the Governing Board of the American Culture Association. She will also serve as recording secretary.
JAMES G. SANDERS, chair of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences, elected president-elect of the Southern Association of Marine Laboratories for 2001-03 (he will serve as president from 2003-05).
