An eclectic program of jazz and contemporary works, highlighting faculty and student choreography, will be on display April 12-14 when the Old Dominion University Dance Theatre presents its spring dance concert at the University Theatre.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. April 12 and 13, and 2 and 8 p.m. April 14.

Visiting artist Camillo Rodriguez of the Virginia Ballet Theatre will join Old Dominion assistant professor Kevin Magee in the raucous and irreverent "Duet for Three Fruits." This tongue-in-cheek ballet interprets Mozart's "Clarinet Concerto" with absurd and unpredictable twists.

Dance faculty member Kathryn Finney will present her latest work, "13 Sounds," a blend of traditional Chinese dance and contemporary choreography with a lush sound score by Tan Dun. As six dancers weave through complex patterns of space and rhythm, they create the appearance of an intricate and unstable world.

Marilyn Marloff, director of Old Dominion's dance program, will restage her popular "Class," which provides a formal glimpse into the training of contemporary dancers. Set to a traditional Irish musical score by Dalglish and Larson, "Class" builds from a contemplative beginning to an energetic finale.

"Come On Over," a new work by dance faculty member Christie Mendoza, was inspired by Christina Aguilera's pop-hit by the same title. This sassy and up-tempo dance is infused with energetic jazz choreography.

Additional works by faculty and student choreographers round off a program of original and diverse dances.
