Scientific Atlanta exec to address students

Wallace G. Haislip, chief financial officer and treasurer of Scientific Atlanta Inc., will give the next talk for the College of Business and Public Administration's Landmark Executive-in-Residence Speaker Series at 12:30 Tuesday, April 3, in room 136 of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Serving in a series of key financial and operational positions, Haislip is a nine-year employee of Scientific America, one of the largest makers of set-top boxes used by subscribers to receive cable television programming and interactive services. As president of the company's Worldwide Services, he was responsible for the establishment of the Advanced Broadband System Services Affiliate, a professional service organization serving the cable industry.

Prior to joining Scientific Atlanta, Haislip spent 17 years in various financial management positions with General Electric, including division finance manager for GE's Government Electric Systems Division in Syracuse, N.Y.

Haislip graduated from Old Dominion with a bachelor's degree in mathematics education and accounting.

The Executive-in-Residence program allows students to learn skills and strategies through discussions with accomplished business leaders.The series is funded by a group of former Landmark executives in honor of Frank Batten Sr., chairman of the Landmark board executive committee. TOP
