The following faculty and administrators were quoted or featured in recent issues of national and international newspapers and magazines:

James V. Koch, president, was quoted in June 18 and June 22 Washington Times and Washington Post stories, respectively, about his decision to step down as president in 2001.

Steve Yetiv, assistant professor of political science, wrote an op-ed piece, "Time for Unity in Israel," for the May 12 Christian Science Monitor.

Donald Smith, associate professor of sociology and criminal justice, was quoted in a June 16 Bergen (N.J.) Record story about the popularity of the NBA's New York Knicks.

Lorraine Lees, associate professor of history, was quoted in a June 7 Montreal Gazette story about NATO's "quick strike" campaign against Yugoslavia.

James V. Koch, president, was quoted in June 18, 19 and June 22 stories about his decision to step down as president in 2001. Also quoted in the June 18 story was Janis Sanchez, professor of psychology; Brenda Nichols, chair of nursing, and William Drewry, former chair of the Faculty Senate, were quoted in the June 19 story. Koch was also the subject of a June 19 editorial and was cited in a June 12 story about college presidents' contracts. Koch was quoted in a May 17 story about SCHEV's block grant proposal for Virginia colleges.

Terry Hickey, dean of the College of Sciences, and Lloyd Wolfinbarger, professor of biological sciences, were quoted in a June 7 story about the proposed Hampton Roads Biomedical Research Park.

Araceli Suzara, director of the Filipino-American Student Cultural Center, was the subject of a June 3 Norfolk Compass profile.

Daniel Sonenshine, eminent scholar of biological sciences, was quoted in a May 20 Richmond Times-Dispatch story about ticks.

Maurice Berube, eminent scholar of educational leadership, wrote an op-ed piece, "In Defense of Sweetpea," that ran June 1 in Port Folio.

Lucien Lombardo, professor, and Brian Payne, assistant professor, sociology and criminal justice, were quoted in a May 25 Port Folio study about marijuana.

David Gunzerath, assistant professor of communication, was interviewed July 2 on WVEC-TV about the future of copyright laws.

Frederick Lubich, chair of foreign languages and literatures, was interviewed May 25 on WHRV radio on the topic, "The Feminine in Our Culture."

Clair Newbold, graduate assistant in the urban services doctoral program, was interviewed June 25 by WVEC-TV on the topic of light rail.
