Michael R. Dingerson, the new associate vice president for research and graduate studies who was shot in the face and chest June 21 outside his Ghent residence, was released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital July 6 after undergoing surgery late last week to remove a bullet near his spine.
Dingerson is recuperating nicely and has begun a program of physical therapy, according to university officials. It is not known when he will return to work.
Two male suspects - a 20-year old from Chesapeake and a 29-year-old from Portsmouth - have been charged in the robbery and shooting of Dingerson.
Cards may be sent to Dingerson at P.O. Box 6084, Norfolk, Va. 23508.
