Warren “Bill” Spencer, who taught at Old Dominion from 1956 to 1967, will sign copies of his latest books at the University Bookstore from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Spencer, who was a professor of history and chaired the history department, went on to teach at the University of Georgia, retiring in 1988.

He will sign copies of “The Confederate Navy in Europe” and “Raphael Semmes: The Philosophical Mariner” (1997; $37.95). Originally released in 1984, “The Confederate Navy in Europe” was reissued in paper.back last year. This version sells for $17.95. Both of Spencer’s books are published by University of Alabama Press.
