Faculty/Staff Annual Fund campaign tops $75,000 goal
The Faculty/Staff Annual Fund campaign had its most successful year yet, raising $2,700 more than its goal for 1999.
Totals were announced April 22 during a reception in Webb Center. In all, $77,764, 4 percent over goal, was raised and will benefit university programs where needs exist.
The 1999 total also was 26 percent higher than in 1998. Thirty-one percent of the faculty and staff pledged their financial support, 24 percent higher than last year; 16 departments achieved 100 percent participation.
Results for each area are as follows (coordinators' names are listed in parentheses):
Academic Affairs (Judy Bowman): Second-highest percentage of goal, exceeding its goal by 20 percent in raising $6,608 and becoming the first area to meet its goal;
Administration and Finance (Donna Meeks): Exceeded its goal by 2 percent, raising $7,620 in the area with the most employees (547);
Athletics (Rob Zimmerman): Raised $5,881 and garnered the highest average gift, $218, this year;
College of Arts and Letters (Ann Brown): Raised $3,590, exceeding last year's total;
College of Business and Public Administration (Claudette Johnson): Had the highest percentage of participation and raised the most money for an area with a total of $12,629 to support Constant Hall renovations;
Darden College of Education (Jean Mellor): Raised $3,650 and had two departments with 100 percent participation;
College of Engineering and Technology (Betty Rychen): Raised 101 percent of its goal with the second-highest amount raised, $8,097, and second-highest average gift, $216;
College of Health Sciences (Debbie Bauman): Raised 103 percent of its goal with a total of $6,697;
College of Sciences (Yolanda Dean): Raised 102 percent of its goal with a total of $7,646;
Institutional Advancement (Jené Bell and Kenisha Roberson): Reached 100 percent of its goal, raising $4,009 and tripling the participation rate from last year;
Perry Library (Fern McDougal): Raised $1,866 and is still working toward its goal;
Student Services (Walter Kimbrough):Raised $2,250;
President's Office (Regula Meier): Raised $7,216 and tied for second-highest percentage of goal.
