Berndt Bohm, Walter Kimbrough to
head Annual Fund drive on campus

Faculty, staff, alumni, parents, board members and friends of Old Dominion University will be called on in the coming weeks to support scholarships and university priorities with the beginning of the 1999 Annual Fund Campaign.

The fund is coming off a successful 1998, during which a little over $2 million was raised, well exceeding the goal of $1.85 million. The faculty/staff portion of the Annual Fund took in nearly $65,000.

Throughout 1999, 70,000 alumni, volunteer board members, parents of students, corporate sponsors and senior class members will be called on in the name of the Annual Fund.

"The volunteer boards set the pace for the campaign," said Page Anderson, director of regional and annual campaigns.

Co-chairing the 1999 faculty/staff campaign are Berndt Bohm, director and associate professor in the graduate engineering program, and Walter Kimbrough, director of student activities. Annual Fund coordinators should be contacting faculty and staff by early March.

The 1999 goal will be $75,000.

Annual Fund money is "nonrestricted," or not designated for specific university programs, which gives Old Dominion flexibility in meeting needs where they exist. Money raised through the Annual Fund also helps the university indirectly. Officials use donor figures in writing grant applications for national foundations.
