Mr. John Blake Bailey, Visiting Associate Professor of English, received an M.A. in English in 1998 from the University of New Orleans and a B.A. in English in 1985 from Tulane University. Previously he was a Writer in Residence at the College of William & Mary.
Ms. Ivanete Blanco, Assistant Professor of Art, received an M.F.A. in Visual Communication in 2003 from the University of Oklahoma School of Art and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design in 1997 from Oklahoma State University. Previously she was an Assistant Professor in the Communication Design Program in the Department of Art and Design at Texas State University.
Dr. Timothy B. Bostic, Assistant Professor of English, received a Ph.D. in Education, Instructional Leadership in 2006 from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Teacher Certification in Secondary Education, English in 1995 from Virginia Wesleyan College, and an M.A. in Humanities and a B.A. in Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, in 1995 and 1993 respectively, from Old Dominion University. He has been a Research Associate in the Program for Research and Evaluation in Public Schools for the Old Dominion University Research Foundation and Director of Composition and Coordinator of Secondary English Teacher preparation at Old Dominion University.
Ms. Heather Bryant, Lecturer of Art, received an M.F.A. in Visual Studies in 2006 from Norfolk State and Old Dominion University (joint program) and a B.F.A. in 2003 from Old Dominion University. She has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Art at Old Dominion University.
Mr. Michael H. Finewood, Lecturer of Political Science and Geography, received an M.A. in Economic Anthropology in 2005 from the University of South Carolina, a B.A. in Anthropology in 2003 from North Carolina State University and is expected to receive a Ph.D. in Human Geography from the University of South Carolina. Previously he was an Instructor at the University of South Carolina.
Dr. David M. Godden, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, received a Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2004 from McMaster University, an M.A. in Philosophy in 1997 from York University and a B.A. in Philosophy in 1995 from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has been a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Old Dominion University.
Ms. Elif Guler, Instructor of English, received an M.A. in English in 2006 from Old Dominion University, a B.A. in International Relations in 2002 from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey and is expected to receive a Ph.D. in English in 2010 from Old Dominion University. She has been a Graduate Instructor in the Department of English at Old Dominion University.
Ms. Tammera Nielsen Johnson, Teacher Preparation Program Advisor for Interdisciplinary Studies, received an M.S.Ed. in Counseling and a B.S. in Human Services Counseling, in 2002 and 2000 respectively, from Old Dominion University. She has been Assistant Director for Enrollment and Student Services at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.
Ms. Kimberly A. Karnes, Instructor of Political Science and Geography, received an M.A. in Political Science in 2006 from the University of Maryland, College Park, a B.A. in Political Science in 2004 from Christopher Newport University and is expected to receive a Ph.D. in American Politics in 2010 from the University of Maryland, College Park. Previously she was a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Ms. Alison McCrowell Lietzenmayer, Lecturer of Communication and Theatre Arts, received an M.A. in Humanities: Communication in 2004 from Old Dominion University and a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations in 2002, also from Old Dominion University. Previously she was a substitute teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
Mr. Johathan W. Lopez, Lecturer of Sociology and Criminal Justice, received an M.A. in Applied Sociology in 2006 from Old Dominion University and a B.A. in Sociology in 2004 from Christopher Newport University. He has been an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Anna Mirkova, Assistant Professor of History, received a Ph.D. and an M.A. in History in 2006 from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in History in 1998 from Lawrence University. Previously she was the Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute.
Ms. Emily Renn Moore, Instructor of History, received an M.A. in History in 2003 from the College of William and Mary, a B.A. in History from North Carolina State University and is a doctoral student in History at the College of William and Mary. Previously she was a Visiting Instructor of History at the University of Mary Washington.
Dr. Brian Nedvin, Assistant Professor of Music, received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance in 2005 from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music in Voice Performance in 1990 from Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Applied Voice in 1987 from Bucknell University. Previously he was a Lecturer in the Department of Music at Mississippi State University.
Dr. Timothy J. Orr, Assistant Professor of History, received a Ph.D. and an M.A. in History, in 2010 and 2003 respectively, from The Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Biology in 2001 from Gettysburg College. Previously he was a Lecturer at Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Zhongtang Ren, Lecturer of Foreign Languages and Literatures, received a Ph.D. in Urban Studies in Education and an M.S. in Secondary Education in Language Acquisition, in 2006 and 2001 respectively, from Old Dominion University and a B.A. in Linguistics and Literature in 1984 from Henan Normal University, China. He has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and a Research Scientist in the College of Education at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Timothy Mark Robinson, Assistant Professor of English, received a Ph.D. in English in 2004 from Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. in English in 2000, also from Pennsylvania State University, and a B.S. in English in 1998 from State University New York College at Brockport. Previously he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
Ms. Hannah Scialdone-Kimberly, Instructor of English, received an M.A. in Education and a B.A. in Latin American Studies and History, in 1998 and 1996 respectively, from the University of New Mexico and is a Ph.D. candidate in English at Old Dominion University. She has been a Lecturer, Graduate Teaching Assistant and Doctoral Research Assistant in the Department of English at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Lee Slater, Visiting Assistant Professor of Foreign Languages and Literatures, received a Ph.D. in French Studies in 1993 from Brown University, an M.A. in French Language and Civilization in 1988 from New York University in France and University of Paris III, Paris, France and a B.A. in French Studies in 1986 from Dickinson College. He has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of French and Foreign Language in English Translation at Old Dominion University.
Ms. Stephanie K. Sugioka, Lecturer of English, received an M.A. in Chinese Literature in 1982 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, an M.S. in Writing Seminars in 1975 from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in English in 1973 from Goucher College. She expects to receive a Ph.D. in Education Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University in 2010. She has been an Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Old Dominion University.

Toussaint, Lecturer of Sociology and Criminal Justice, received a Ph.D. in Sociology in 2008 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, an M.A. in Applied Sociology in 2002 from Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University and a B.S. in Sociology in 1998 from Old Dominion University. He has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University.

She has been an Instructor in the Department of English at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Jelmer Vos, Assistant Professor of History, received a Ph.D. in History in 2005 from the University of London and a Master's in Political Science and Master's in Philosophy of the Humanities in 1997 from the University of Amsterdam. Previously he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of History at Emory University.
Dr. John Weber, Assistant Professor of History, received a Ph.D. in 2008 from the College of William and Mary, an M.A. in 2002, also from William and Mary, and a B.A. in 2000 from Vanderbilt University. Previously he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University.
